Sponsor support for the 19th annual “Ding” Darling Days, Oct. 19-26, 2008, has been overwhelming this year, according to Sponsorship Committee Member Birgie Vertesch.

“Businesses were surprisingly eager to be a part of this annual eco-festival,” said Vertesch. “Many thanks to those who stepped up to donate in-kind, sponsor specific activities, or contribute funds for administering the weeklong event.”

“Ding” Darling Days celebrates the birthday of Jay “Ding” Darling, the refuge’s namesake and father of the Duck Stamp Program. The event is co-presented by the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, “Ding” Darling Wildlife Society (the refuge’s “friends” non-profit), and Tarpon Bay Explorers. For more information, visit
